Postgraduate Student Research
IAPETUS 2 DOCTORAL TRAINING PARTNERSHIP
IAPETUS is a partnership that joins the leading research universities of Durham, Heriot Watt, Glasgow, Newcastle, St Andrews and Stirling, together with the British Antarctic Survey, British Geological Survey and the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, in a united approach to doctoral research and training the next generation of leaders in the science of the natural environment. SUERC and SUERC-Cosmo are a member of this partnership and advertise funded studentships (awarded through competition) annually.

The Edinburgh Earth, Ecology and Environment Doctoral Training Partnership (E4 DTP), led by the School of GeoSciences at the University of Edinburgh, is funded by NERC to recruit and train 5 cohorts of PhD students annually between 2019 and 2023. SUERC and SUERC-Cosmo are a member of this partnership and advertise funded studentships (awarded through competition) annually.

In addition to the DTP route for obtaining funding for a research studentship, SUERC-Cosmo is happy to discuss self-funding for MSc (by research) and PhD projects. Occasionally we have opportunities that include industry funded studentships. For Scottish students expecting to obtain first class degrees the Carnegie Trust Scotland provides funding awards. We would encourage you to discuss various opportunities with SUERC-Cosmo staff if you wish to pursue a MSc or PhD that utilises cosmogenic nuclides and state-of-the-art mass spectrometry
